The Ruff Ryderz battled the Rangers and came back in the second half to take a 54-48 win in a regular season intramural basketball game Tuesday at Kefurt Fitness Center.

The Rangers broke an early 9-9 tie with 10 minutes gone in the first half with a successful free throw from the RangersAca,!a,,c Ben Boyd, of 75th Ranger Regiment, to lead 10-9. The Rangers extended their lead to 19-11 and the Ruff Ryderz closed the gap, but trailed 25-23 at the half.

The Ruff Ryderz turned the game around in the second half, 27-25 at the 19-minute mark. The Ruff Ryderz led 31-30 with twelve minutes remaining and with less than four minutes, the game was tied at 40-40. The Ruff Ryderz pulled ahead in the final minutes while holding the Rangers to eight points to seal the 54-48 win.

Aca,!A"We focused on throwing the ball down, taking good precision shots and not hitting the foul line,Aca,!A? Ruff Ryderz coach Varnell Ward said. Aca,!A"We used our big man to create a decoy so the other guys could get to the basket. It worked pretty good. At halftime, we talked about slowing the ball down and keep driving to the hole. All of us went to the free throw line at least once and we didnAca,!a,,ct have a lot of turnovers. We settled down and once we did that, we came back and didnAca,!a,,ct give up.Aca,!A?

30th AGAca,!a,,cs Matt Stubbs said although his team only had five players, the squad kept its focus.

Aca,!A"Everyone hustled as hard as they could and gave it their all,Aca,!A? he said. Aca,!A"They kept it a close game. Their players were taller than us but we just kept attacking the hole and kept drawing fouls and got some easy layups.Aca,!A?

The team sealed the game with 11 free throws in the second half.
