Eighth U.S. Army holds holiday concert in Seoul

SEOUL - The 8th U.S. Army hosted the Korean-American Friendship Holiday Concert at the Seoul Arts Center Dec. 13 to strengthen the bond between the Republic of Korea and United States.

The 8th U.S. Army Band played various classical pieces, conducted by Chief Warrant Officer 4 Dewayne Kendricks, commander of 8th U.S. Army Band.

Vocalist sopranos Lee Jung-ae and Oh Mi-sun, tenor Kim Chul-ho and baritone Seo Jung-hak sang with the 8th Army Band, creating a beautiful melody that impressed the hundreds in the audience at the concert hall.

"The concert was awesome," said Bae June, a Korean neighbor who visited the concert for the first time. "The performance of the vocalists was great, too."

The concert celebrated the holidays and new year by playing Christmas carols such as Aca,!A"White ChristmasAca,!A? by Irving Berlin, and Santa Claus appeared on stage, delivering holiday cheer.

"I think our alliance is the strongest in the world," said Col. Daniel P. Orrico, deputy surgeon at the 8th Army Headquarters Surgeon Division. "It's great that we share common interest and that we can enjoy together this joyous music."
