SCHINNEN, Netherlands - Dutch Ministry of Defense employees, who comprise two-thirds of the USAG Schinnen workforce, were treated by U.S. Department of Defense Soldiers, Civilians and Volunteers to a traditional Thanksgiving Day meal at the garrison's Activity Center Nov. 24. Participants were treated to an abundance of traditional American Thanksgiving cuisine and were accompanied by a Thanksgiving melody of songs, the reading of a Thanksgiving poem, and musical entertainment during the meal by NATO's Jazz Messengers. Ideas for such an event were first presented at a strategic planning conference two years ago, leading a team to develop an action plan of events to reinforce cultural exchange and camaraderie among the garrison workforce. USAG Schinnen, the only U.S. Army garrison in the Netherlands, provides base operations support to international military communities across northern Germany, eastern Belgium, and the Netherlands.
