FORT BLISS, TEXAS (November 9, 2009) - Brigadier General Dana Pittard, the TRADOC Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, visited to view the new equipment being tested by the Future Force Integration Directorate (FFID) Battle Command Complex (BCC).

As Brig. Gen. Pittard made his rounds earnestly greeting the Soldiers of the 5th Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Army Evaluation Task Force he was briefed on each systems strengths and progress.

The briefing was handled by NCOs of the AETF to show how the AETF soldiers are an integral part of the development process in the Brigade Combat Team Modernization effort.

The AETF is made up of Soldiers who are mostly recent combat veterans, they understand what capabilities are needed and which are lacking and provide feedback which can be implemented within weeks of the recommendation.

The Spin Out equipment they are testing and evaluating consists of robots that can be carried by the soldier to inspect for explosives or inspect unknown threats allowing the soldier to stay safely out of harm's way.

The Spin Out equipment, is already preparing for early deployment to combat zones in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The equipment includes Tactical and Urban Unattended Ground Sensors (T-UGS and U-UGS), the Small Unmanned Ground Vehicle (SUG-V), the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), the Non Line-of-Sight Launch System (NLOS-LS) and the Network Integration Kit, which is generally set up in a HMMWV.
