Madigan Healthcare System mourns the death of Lt. Col. Juanita L. Warman, who was killed Nov. 5 as part of the Fort Hood, Texas shooting incident. Warman, a Pittsburgh native, worked at Madigan as the hospital's bed manager in the Department of Nursing. She PCS'd from Madigan at the end of October for Fort Hood to process for deployment.

Warman, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2006 and flew numerous air evacuation missions. She is survived by her husband, five children and eight grandchildren. "Juanita is a hero Warrior-medic and forever a Madigan Family member," said Madigan Commander Col. Jerry Penner III. "Please keep Juanita and her Family and friends in your thoughts and prayers."

Madigan remembered her life Nov. 13 during a memorial service in the chapel. "A friend like Juanita comes along once in a lifetime," said Lt. Col. Janise Nepveux. "She was an amazing, classy woman - she'll be greatly missed."
