Many men, and even a few women, prove again and again that he, or she, is afraid of long-distance commitment. Well, not only is Staff Sgt. Dominic Perez not afraid, he proved just how committed he was when he re-enlisted in the Army for an additional six years Oct. 14 while his wife and children shared the moment with him through a screen.

Perez, assigned to the 2nd Space Company, 1st Space Battalion, joined the Army in 2003 and attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, S.C. He is currently deployed, and the re-enlistment garnered him an assignment to the Research, Development, Test and Evaluation Position at Fort Huachuca, Ariz.

Perez's wife, Venita, and his two children: Stella, 7, and Juan, 2, watched the re-enlistment ceremony from Colorado Springs, Colo., via a videoteleconference. In additon to getting to see and speak with his family privately, Perez received a $12,000 bonus for his re-enlistment.
