Contract awarded for new military housing at Fort McCoy
New military housing will be built near this housing area at Fort McCoy, Wis. Funding for the new project is from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

A contract to build 23 new houses at Fort McCoy, Wis., has been awarded.

Carlson Construction of Joliet, Ill., received the nearly $8.7 million contract, said Roy Brewer, Fort McCoy Army Corps of Engineers resident engineer.

The project currently is in the design phase, which should be completed and approved in time for construction to begin in spring 2010. Construction is scheduled to be completed by spring 2011.

The project will be built near the existing newer housing, which includes 12 houses built in 1998 and 12 houses completed in 2008, Brewer said.

Sherry Oslie, Fort McCoy Family Housing manager, said the new project was funded by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The project will include new infrastructure, including a new street.

The homes will have four bedrooms and be similar to the 12 houses completed in 2008, Oslie said. This project will increase the inventory of military housing at Fort McCoy and support the installation's Master Housing Plan.
