FORT BENNING, GA - Kelley Hill defeated the Rangers 25-18 in an intramural flag football game Monday at Essebagger Field.

Galvin Smith scored on Kelley Hill's first possession of the game with a touchdown run and with the one-point conversion led 7-0.

Michael Brown added another score for Kelley Hill returning a fumble recovery 38 yards for a touchdown to increase Kelley Hill's lead to 13-0. Ranger Robert Etheridge closed Kelley's Hill lead to 13-6 scoring on a two-yard touchdown run to end the first half with Kelley Hill leading 13-6.

Kelley Hill added two more scores on a 26-yard interception return by Smith for a touchdown and a Kateesh McDonald touchdown catch to lead 25-6.

The Rangers came back in the closing minutes of the game, scoring on two V.J. McDonald touchdown runs but time expired on the Rangers, sealing a Kelley Hill 25-18 win.

"We played a little sluggish on defense at first but we got back in the game," said Smith who coaches Kelley Hill. "We were missing key players and only had eight players, but we pulled together as a team for the win."

Brown said the game was challenging.

"We played around a little bit in the beginning but when they got back in the game, we got serious," he said. "It got pretty close toward the end of the game but we stayed strong on defense."

Because Kelley Hill will leave for a one-year deployment, it was their final game of the season.

"Winning our game was a good way to end the season," Brown said.
