RED CLOUD GARRISON, Republic of Korea - Soldiers and Family members participated in the USAG- RC sponsored focus groups Sept. 15 and 16 at the USAG-RC conference room. The Area 1 Garrison Leadership conducted two constituent-centered focus groups as part of the Community Feedback, Issues, Resolutions, Solutions and Today initiative. This quarter's focus groups centered on Soldiers and Family Members, who came together to talk about the unique challenges faced by those assigned to Area 1.

"We (the garrison chain of command) continue to strive to make Area 1 the assignment of choice for Soldiers and their Family Members by holding these focus groups quarterly to gauge the pulse of the community and get first-hand, real time feedback on the services we provide so that we can work on doing an even better job for everyone in the Area 1 community," said Command Sgt. Maj. Earlene Lavender, USAG-RC command sergeant major.

At the Soldier focus group several concerns were raised focusing primarily on the time it takes for Korean Augmentation to the United States Army Soldiers to receive their Common Access Cards, language and culture training for both US and KATUSA Soldiers, Area 1 taxi's, and more. Family members raised issues on how their needs to be more Pediatric Care in Area 1, as well as activities, schools, and fitness classes for their children.

The Chief of the Garrison Plans, Analysis, and Integration Office, Mr. Ray Myers said, "Each time we hold a focus group, we gain valuable feedback from the community. Focus groups are a critical tool we use to identify the specific services and issues that impact the quality of life in Area 1. I can't guarantee that all issues will be resolved the way people would like to see them, but I do promise that they will be heard. We want to hear what you think will improve the quality of life for all those who work, play, and live in Warrior Country."

"The Garrison leadership needs to be able to hear the voice of the customer directly in order to address the issues and challenges that affect people most in Area 1. Community FIRST and focus groups like these are all about capturing the voice of the customer, and ensuring that the garrison is providing the best possible level of service to those who work, live, play and serve in the Area 1 community."
