REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. - Brig. Gen. Christopher Tucker, program manager for the Saudi Arabian National Guard Modernization Program, will assume command of the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command from Executive Director Richard Alpaugh in a ceremony at the Bob Jones Auditorium here, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m.

Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody, commander of the U.S. Army Materiel Command, will preside over the ceremony, which will include the AMC Band and color guard.

The 2005 Base Realignment and Closure law requires the relocation of USASAC from Fort Belvoir, Va., to Redstone Arsenal, Ala., by Sept. 15, 2011. By the end of fiscal year 2009, USASAC will have all eligible personnel and functions moved to Redstone - a full two years ahead of the BRAC requirement.

The U.S. Army Security Assistance Command is "The Army's Face to the World" -working in close collaboration with AMC's life cycle management commands, Department of Defense agencies and U.S. industry for support. The mission of USASAC is to implement approved U.S. Army Security Assistance programs. This includes Foreign Military Sales of defense articles and services to eligible foreign governments. USASAC is responsible for life cycle management of FMS cases, from pre-letter of request, development, execution and closure.
