The Fort McPherson post chapel held Chapel in the Park festivities Aug. 22 at Jacobs Park.

"This is an opportunity for people to invite others to become part of the faith-based community here," said Chap. (Capt.) Fred Wendel, catholic chaplain.

The day consisted of food, games and information stations throughout the park. Visitors could also register with volunteer organizations.

"We want to let the community know about the chapel programs," said Jan Ingram, religious education coordinator for the Fort McPherson post chapel. "We want to have people helping other people through the ministry."

The festivities also let the community enjoy something outside of their normal routine, said Ingram.

"Kids, parents, and everyone else can get involved with their community," she said. "There are ways to get out and do something."

Kalah Cill, 9, daughter of Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed program volunteer Tanya Callard, said the day was a success.

"I'm having a lot of fun," she said.
