More than a hundred community leaders, military members, veterans groups and elected officials gathered Aug. 18 to sign a Community Covenant between Nevada communities and service members in the Silver State at the capitol grounds amphitheater in Carson City. The Nevada event was hosted by Gov. Jim Gibbons, Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki and The Adjutant General, Brig. Gen. Bill Burks, and was organized to honor and thank Nevadans across the state for their ongoing support of those in uniform. Gov. Gibbons remarked that a recent trip to Iraq gave him unique perspective on how Soldiers deployed to war feel about the encouragement they receive from home. Brig. Gen. Robert Abrams, commanding general for the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif., represented of the Secretary of the Army at the event.
