New AMC Band facility contract awarded

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Mobile District awarded the building contract for the new U.S. Army Materiel Command Band facility Aug. 7.

The contract was awarded to Dyson Construction Company from Decatur, Ala., for $4.383 million.

The 16,082 square foot building will be on Redstone Arsenal, near the new U.S. Army Materiel Command headquarters building. The band facilities will include space for a large rehearsal room, individual practice rooms, library, instrument storage, repair and cleaning, changing rooms and administration space.

Construction is expected to begin in September and be completed by March 2011.
