U.S. military leaders hike Namsan Mountain in Seoul

SEOUL - U.S. Forces Korea senior leaders and their spouses hiked Namsan Mountain July 31 as a part of the 2009 Seoul Tower Hike.

Led by United Nations Command, Combined Force Command and U.S. Forces Korea Commander Gen. Walter L. Sharp and 8th U.S. Army Commander Lt. Gen. Joseph F. Fil, Jr., the hike began at 5 a.m. at the bottom of Namsan Mountain.

From there, the participants hiked the iconic downtown Seoul landmark and watched the Namsan Beacon Tower lighting ceremony.

The hike ended after a brief photo session.

The hike covered 2.2 miles, beginning at the Seoul National Theater and concluding at the Seoul National Library.

All participants received a commemorative 2009 Seoul Tower Hike hat and towel, courtesy of 8th U.S. Army's Good Neighbor Program.
