The following was written by Sgt. 1st Class Mark F. Ounan, an Active/ Guard infantry Soldier currently assigned to the 324th Military Police Btn., Chambersburg, Pa. Ounan is also the only current Soldier and Military Vehicle Preservation Association member taking place in the 2009 MVPA Convoy. Here's an exert from the journal he's keeping as he travels cross-country.

Leaving Green River we travel through the beautiful scenery of Wyoming. Our first stop is at the Fort Bridger Museum. The Lincoln Highway Association has recently restored a motel there called the Black and Orange Cabins at Fort Bridger. The association invited us to the opening ceremony and fed us buffalo burgers.

We were running late when we got to Evanston, Wyo. Our lunch stop was in the Evanston Railroad Yard machine shop, a really neat 19th-century roundhouse that the people of Evanston have restored and use for special occasions. The mayor spoke and thanked us all for coming.

The afternoon driving was rough. We drove on the highway to Ogden, Utah, and then down to Salt Lake City. We went through Salt Lake City during rush hour, and the traffic was crazy. We arrived in Murray, Utah and had dinner hosted by the city. The local civil air patrol stayed all night in shifts to guard our vehicles.
