fORT BENNING GA - Eight busloads of Soldiers and their families were treated to a Columbus WoodBats game Tuesday at Golden Park during a team military appreciation night.

The WoodBats feature college baseball players who want to enhance their skills during the summer break, said club president Jim White.

They play in the Great South League against teams from Georgia, east Alabama and Florida.

The WoodBats have two more days planned where Soldiers can get in the games for free with a military identification card.

The free games are a small way to give appreciation to the troops, White said.

SGT Marlena Rose, who is in the Warrior Leader Course, said she had a good time at the game Tuesday.

The WoodBats will host a Aca,!A"Salute to the Armed ForcesAca,!A? day beginning at 7 p.m. July 4 at Golden Park, where they will take on the East Alabama Big Train. Soldiers and their families, who get free admission when they present a military ID, will unfurl a storm flag before the game and one Soldier will sing the National Anthem. There will be a fireworks display following the game.

And Soldiers will get in free on another military appreciation night July 14 at Golden Park. The WoodBats will take on the Macon Giants at 7 p.m.

Military members get into the July 4 and 14 games free, but tickets for everyone else are $5 per person for general admission. Children 12 and younger get in free.
