<strong>YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea</strong> -- U.S. Army Garrison-Yongsan Command Sgt. Maj. Ralph Rusch, other Soldiers, and newly-arrived Camp Adventure volunteers joined children in a cake-cutting ceremony, June 12, at Child and Youth Services to celebrate the Army's 234th birthday.

The U.S. Army Birthday Ball is scheduled for the evening of June 12 in the Seoul Grand Hyatt Ballroom. This year's event will pay special tribute to our Noncommissioned Officers, the backbone of our Army. With more than 200 years of service, the Secretary of the Army has established 2009 as "Year of the NCO."

Officials said this yearAca,!a,,cs Birthday Ball is designed to honor the service and sacrifices of all Army NCOs and to reflect on the proud history and heritage of our Nation.

The U.S. Army's Noncommissioned Officer Corps has distinguished itself as the world's most accomplished group of military professionals. U.S. Army NCOs have been heralded for their acts of courage and dedication to mission accomplishment.

The community is invited to celebrate America's Army, the Strength of the Nation, and the 234 years of service by attending the 2009 U.S. Army Birthday Ball.
