Memorial Day observance at Arlington National Cemetery

WHAT: National Memorial Day Observance 2009 at Arlington National Cemetery

WHEN: Monday, May 25 at 11 a.m.

WHERE: Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

EVENT DETAILS:

A wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the Tomb of the Unknowns at 11 a.m. and will be followed by an observance program in Memorial Amphitheater. Media must choose between the two locations.

All media interested in attending must pre-register for a press credential. Satellite truck arrangements must be coordinated in advance, please call and make an appointment to pre-cable.

On the day of the event, media should park in the Arlington National Cemetery Visitors Center parking lot and report to the Media Center in the Visitors Center basement from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. for credentialing. Please make sure you have identification and credentials from your media organization when you report to the Media Center. Parking in the Visitors Center parking lot is free for this event until 1:00 p.m.

Attendees will be required to pass through a security checkpoint to gain access to the ceremony. Prohibited items include: firearms and weapons of any type, laser pointers, aerosol containers, soda cans, umbrellas, coolers, picnic baskets, bottled water, lighters, personal protection sprays, and insulated beverage containers.
