8th Theater Sustainment Command Full Operational Capability (FOC)
What is it'
The 8th Theater Sustainment Command (TSC), activated in 2006, is one of three theater-level sustainment commands in the active Army. The 8th TSC plans, prepares, deploys, and executes operational logistics within an assigned Joint Operations Area in the Pacific theater. The TSC can deploy elements of multiple Sustainment Brigades, and maintains command and control of operational level logistics, distribution and sustainment in theater.
What has the Army done'
A TSC is the senior Army logistics head quarter (HQ) in a theater of operations, and is the Army logistics HQ for a theater Army service component command for a regional combatant commands. The TSC consolidates most of the functions previously performed by Corps Support Commands and Theater Support Commands into a single operational echelon that is responsible for command and control of logistics operations conducted in support of Army, as well as joint, interagency, and multinational forces. The TSC is regionally focused and globally employable. Its modular design provides the TSC commander with the flexibility to adapt his/her command and control as requirements develop.
How has the Army made TSCs'
The 8th TSC was formed from the reorganization of regional logistical units throughout the Army, and were transformed into a single 2-star command and based centrally to best support the warfighter in the respective area of responsibility (AOR).
Where are we going in the Pacific AOR'
8th Theater Sustainment Command consists of the 8th Special Troops Battalion, 8th Military Police Brigade, 10th Sustainment Group, 45th Sustainment Brigade, 130th Engineer Brigade and separate Rigging, Logistics Support Vessel and Dive assets. The 8th TSC supports full spectrum operations from humanitarian and stability operations to major combat operations in Pacific Command's AOR, and other theaters as directed.
"Our mission is to provide world class logistics and sustainment support to the U.S. Army Pacific forces. Whatever it takes, we will provide support, "Forward to the Foxhole, While Taking Care of Soldiers." - Maj. Gen. Raymond V. Mason, commander, 8th Theater Sustainment Command
What continued efforts does the Army have planned for the future'
The 8th TSC is refining doctrine for the management of split based sustainment operations by deploying a forward command post. The forward command post provides forward command and control of operations, while its main command post provides reach back support, coordination and integration with strategic level logistic partners and assets, oversight of theater logistics, and responds to emerging contingencies.
Why is the 8th TSC important to the Army'
Throughout the Pacific, 8th TSC provides logistics to the warfighter and lives up to its motto "Sustain the Force!"
