U.S. Army North noncommissioned officers gathered with retired Paratroopers at the Drop Zone CafAfA and Bar, San Antonio, May 20, to present a parachute and reserve parachute to the Alamo Silver Wings Airborne Association to replace one that was stolen from the restaurant less than a year ago.
Retired Sgt. 1st Class and Paratrooper Marty Martinez accepted the gift from the ARNORTH chaplain's office.
"We appreciate your kindness and all you're doing for our country," Martinez said to the ARNORTH NCOs. "The Silver Wing Airborne Association is grateful to ARNORTH for this gift."
"We got the call about the display's disappearance and set out to find them a new one," said Sgt. Maj. Karen Bolden, chaplain's office sergeant major, ARNORTH. "We are glad to be here and glad to be able to give you a new parachute for the display."
The parachute was shipped from Fort Benning, Ga. and donated by Company E, 1st Battalion, 507th Airborne Infantry, and is currently on display at the Drop Zone CafAfA and Bar outside of Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
