Katrina Walker, Burger King Manager, presents a $25,000 check to Mike Saltzman on May 9, 2009 for winning the "Cruz for Victory" sweepstakes for AAFES Pacific. Maj. Christopher Mills, acting commander for U.S. Kwajalein Atoll, far left, and Sgt. Maj. Patrick Kutac congratulate Saltzman on his win.

KWAJALEIN - Mike Saltzman, a Department of Army Civilian air traffic controller, was not even aware that Burger King and AAFES were having a sweepstakes when his wife brought home a soda and cookie for their son. He joked with his wife as he pulled off the sticker from the soda, "I'll try to win you some free fries," Saltzman said.

But he won a whole lot more than that - try a 2009 Dodge Challenger. Saltzman didn't believe that he had won a car. He thought that he might just be entered into a drawing for it, but it turned out he was indeed an instant winner. He and his family are going on leave to upstate New York and decided to take the $25,000 rather than the car.
