2009 All Army Boxing Championships continue at Fort Huachuca

FORT HUACHUCA, Ariz. - The 2009 All Army Boxing Championships moved into their second night of competition Wednesday at Barnes Field House here.

Here are the second night results:

141 Lbs.

Spc. John Montes of Fort Bragg, N.C. outpointed Sgt. Charles Gable of Fort Richardson, Alaska.

152 Lbs.

Spc. Nathaniel Hicks of Fort Carson, Colo. stopped Spc. Lawrence Cutts of Fort Carson, Colo. at 2:06 in Round 2.

Sgt. Reyes Marquez of Fort Meyer, Va. outpointed Spc. Tausolo Aieti of Fort Riley, Kan. 23:6.

165 Lbs.

Pfc. Taylor Atkinson of Fort Bliss, Texas stopped Sgt. Quadi Hudgins of Fort Carson, Colo. at 0:45 in Round 3.

201 Lbs.

Sgt. Miree Coleman of Fort Bragg, N.C. outpointed Spc. Charles Blackwell of the U.S. Army Reserve, Tucson, Ariz. 20:5.

The championship bouts take place Friday night. The following are the scheduled matchups:

165 lbs. -- Pfc Sidney Williams vs. Pfc. Taylor Atkinson

178 lbs. -- Pfc Foy Brooks vs. Spc. Jeffery Spencer

201 lbs. -- Sgt. Poloka Aieti vs. Sgt. Miree Coleman

201+ lbs. -- Staff Sgt. Andrew Shepherd vs. Spc. Antonio Feagins

Doors open both nights at 6 p.m. and boxing begins at 7 p.m. The championships are free, and the public is encouraged to come out and support the boxers.

After the All Army Championships, the team will stay here to train up and defend their Armed Forces Championship title against the best boxers from the Air Force, Marine Corps and Navy April 28, 29 and May 1.

The last time Army boxers lost the Armed Forces Championships was in 1991. They've kept a firm grip on the title ever since.
