FORT RILEY, Kan. - A Fort Riley civilian employee within the Directorate of Public Works will soon receive an award for her work from the Installation Management Command. Julie Poyser, PW's chief of business operations and integration division, has been named IMCOM's DPW Business Management Executive of the Year for 2008.

"I didn't know that my director had nominated me, so it came as a surprise," said Poyser, who's worked on post for 20 years. "There are a lot of very talented professionals in the field, so it's quite an honor."

Poyser's award is based on the work she performed as a member of a plant maintenance and project team, developing the PW component of the General Fund Enterprise Business System. GFEB is the Army's web-enabled financial, asset and accounting management system that standardizes, streamlines and shares critical data across the active Army, the Army National Guard and the Army Reserve.

The system is a consolidation of more than 90 systems, Poyser said.

"There are so many standalone systems that don't talk to each other that really should, and this is a big, integrated enterprise system," she said.

Much of her work done with her team members was performed on site in Alexandria, Va.

"We have worked on it through 2007 and 2008, so I probably have been back there, over the course of time, about two to three months," she said.

IMCOM's annual Directorate of Public Works Awards Program provides an opportunity to recognize individuals and organizations who demonstrate excellence in management and execution of the Army public works and real property maintenance missions.

Poyser also received local recognition March 24 when Col. Richard Piscal, garrison commander, presented a Commander's Award for Civilian Service and a command coin to her at a gathering of all directors on post. Also present was Randall Robinson, IMCOM West regional director, who also gave Poyser a command coin.

Poyser will fly to Houston April 7 to receive her IMCOM award.
