FORT SHAFTER, Hawaii -- The 402nd Army Field Support Brigade transitioned command and responsibility on June 7 at Fort Shafter, Hawaii.

Outgoing commander, Col. Tony McQueen was awarded the Legion of Merit and Command Sgt. Maj. Brian Morrison was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal prior to the transition of authority which was overseen by Maj. Gen. Ed Daly, senior commander of Rock Island Arsenal and commanding general of Army Sustainment Command, headquartered at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois.

Just after the ceremonies, Daly spoke about the great work that the 402nd AFSB has done during the last two years.

"You, the 402nd team, epitomize what is best about America. Each and every one of you reflects the strength of our nation," he said. "I could not be more proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you and your families."

McQueen spoke about the pride he had in the unit. The incoming command team of Col. Chris Brookie and Command Sgt. Maj. Major Talley said they were eager to carry on the tradition that the 402nd had begun. Brookie said McQueen and the 402nd had done a great job supporting the warfighter and he would do the best he could to continue that work.
