  • Soldiers from U.S. Army Europe assist with the loading of rail cars at Mainz, Germany, during U.S. Army Europe�'s Contingency Command Post, or CCP, deployment operations for Saber Guardian 2014. The CCP, established as a rapidly deploying, forward command and control element in support of missions directed by U.S. Army Europe, is currently preparing for Saber Guardian 2014. The training, held in the Republic of Bulgaria, is a U.S. Army Europe-led multinational exercise designed to strengthen international government agencies and military partnering. The exercise will further strengthen interoperability between NATO and partner nations involved in foreign consequence management operations with U.S. forces and foster trust between regional partner military forces. Personnel from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine, Turkey and the U.S., as well as representatives from NATO, will participate in the exercise.

  • Secretary of the Army John McHugh today transferred the eternal flame to its permanent position at the grave site of President John F. Kennedy at
Arlington National Cemetery. Cemetery officials completed restoration of the presidential memorial, and had moved the flame first lit by former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy on November 25, 1963, to a temporary, adjacent location.  Today's ceremony returned the flame to its permanent place on the Kennedy gravesite.  This year marks the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy's death.
