Fort Campbell and its many units have been on the forefront of fighting the war on terror. The installation has also been a leader within the Army in addressing the needs for providing the social services and information to assist its community.
During every welcome home ceremony volunteer staff from the Family Resiliency Council are there to help and assist Soldiers and families in identifying resources to help them help themselves.
Romona Nelson originally from Germany and wife of Staff Sgt. Jonathon Nelson, 101st Sustainment Brigade, seeks the opportunities to stay informed through services offered on post.
"It's very intimidating to be in a new place with all the new paper work, new people and all the acronyms,'' she said. "Having resources like what's provided at the welcome home ceremonies makes it a lot easier to understand."
At Fort Campbell, the Family Resiliency Council teamed up with key organizations to be one of the first installations to publish an online resource guide.
The Community Resource Guide has a sole purpose "to get accurate, accessible and up-to-date information to Soldiers and families," said Emilee Owens, Community Health Promotion coordinator. "Bringing the information to them is just another way to break down the barriers of access and over complication."
A web-based resource guide is easier to update and easier for families to access.
"These days Soldiers and families are so busy especially during the deployments that it can be difficult to actively be aware and prepared for everything," Owens said.
