GRAFENWÖHR, Germany (April 5, 2016) -- Paratroopers from the U.S., United Kingdom and Italy are scheduled to conduct airborne operations and follow-on tactical maneuvers on off-post areas near the Hohenfels Training Areas, April 12.

The maneuvers are part of the U.S. Army exercise Saber Junction 16, which includes nearly 5,000 personnel from 16 NATO and European partner nations, March 31- April 24.

The airborne operations in the off-post areas are military training maneuvers, not a public demonstration. General public access to viewing areas near the drop zones will be limited to a small area near the town of Höchensee due to safety and operational concerns. However, there are no parking areas or seating facilities for the general public in that area.

Local and military law enforcement and public safety officials will be on site to help direct traffic and maintain a safe perimeter around the maneuvers areas.

Saber Junction 16, also known as JMRC Rotation 16-04, is designed to evaluate and certify the readiness of the 173rd Airborne Brigade to conduct unified land operations (a simultaneous combination of offensive, defensive and stability missions), with an emphasis on tactical interoperability among the Allied and partner-nation forces.
