A team of Human Resources Command branch representatives visited 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command Soldiers March 21-24 in Kaiserslautern, and Baumholder, Germany.

The branch representatives spent one day at Rhine Ordnance Barracks in Kaiserslautern and one day at Smith Barracks in Baumholder talking to all air defense artillery officers, warrant officers, noncommissioned officers, and junior enlisted personnel.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss air defense artillery assignment opportunities, promotion preparation and professional development.

"The intent of my brief was to give the Soldiers leadership tools so that they can flourish in their career progression," said Sgt. 1st Class Michael C. Miller, an air defense artillery HRC professional development noncommissioned officer, and trained Patriot launching station enhanced operator. "We wanted to give them a behind the scenes look to what goes on with assignments and why they are divvied out the way they are."

The branch representatives traveled from Fort Knox, Kentucky, to lead seminars and ensure transparency between HRC and the Soldiers who represent the air defense artillery branch. The HRC team gave insight on the many factors they use while making assignment selections

The HRC visit was structured with briefings and one-on-one individual counseling with 10th AAMDC Soldiers.

"It was important for us to meet with the Soldiers so that we can better manage the talent across the Air Defense force and get the right officers to the right jobs," said Lt. Col. Maurice O. Barnett, the air defense artillery branch chief.

The visit provided leaders at every level key information on development of their subordinates as well as personal development. At the end of the visit the branch representatives met with the 10th AAMDC command team to discuss the future of the air defense artillery branch and how their Soldiers will be affected.

"What I took away from the HRC visit was that they are very concerned about our career progression," said 1st Lt. William White, an air defense officer. "The most important thing I learned was that it's not the job you do, it's how well you do at the job. Bloom where you are planted."
