FORT BRAGG, North Carolina -- (March 21, 2016) Members of the 900th Contracting Battalion returned home in early March after a successful deployment in support of Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq.

Battalion Soldiers were responsible for all contingency contracting in Iraq and Jordan, and they executed more than 420 contract actions and obligated more than $174 million in supplies, services, and minor construction projects in the course of their nine-month deployment.

The 900th CBN served as the Regional Contracting Center--Operation Inherent Resolve, and were the second such rotation for a contracting battalion in support of OIR. The Regional Contracting Center served both the Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command-Iraq and Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve headed by the 82nd Airborne Division and III Corps, respectively.

Highlighting their lasting impact across the combined joint operations area, the 900th CBN established the intra-theater line haul contract for both the coalition and Iraq Security Forces, a theater base life support sustainment contract in support of the counterattack, procured more than 300 mobility assets for tribal fighters, and emplaced contract vehicles to repair two strategic runways increasing theater responsiveness.

Commanded by Lt. Col. Amanda Flint, the 900th CBN is doctrinally aligned to support the 82nd Airborne Division. The 922nd CBN, commanded by Lt. Col. Robert McDonald and from Fort Campbell, Kentucky, assumed responsibility for the Regional Contracting Center mission as they are doctrinally aligned to support the 101st Airborne Division. The two battalions conducted a transfer of authority on March 3 just before a transfer of authority between their divisionally aligned units.

"Our customers relied on us and we delivered," said Flint at a welcome home luncheon hosted by the Mission and Installation Contracting Command-Fort Bragg and attended by the Army civilians who assisted in the training of the Soldiers prior to the deployment. "There is no doubt that this can be attributed to the caliber of training you received."

The 900th CBN is part of the Mission and Installation Contracting Command headquartered at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The MICC is responsible for providing contracting support for the warfighter at Army commands, installations and activities located throughout the continental United States and Puerto Rico. In fiscal 2015, the command executed more than 36,000 contract actions worth more than $5.2 billion across the Army. The command also managed more than 600,000 Government Purchase Card Program transactions in fiscal 2015 valued at an additional $747 million.
