Soldiers from Fort Leonard Wood's 509th Clearance Company, 5th Engineer Battalion, dismantle a Husky Vehicle Mounted Mine Detection System Friday. Twelve of the unit's Huskies were taken apart and packed into 30 containers for shipment. Assisting with the operation were specialists from the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command and representatives from the Logistics Readiness Center, since it was the first dismantling operation of a Husky by the 509th. The Husky is a mine-protected vehicle that seeks out buried land mines and IEDs for investigation and neutralization.
