SMYRNA, Tennessee -- The Tennessee Army National Guard's 194th Engineer Brigade spearheaded a focused mid-planning conference for Resolute Castle 16, here, Jan. 13-15, in order to discuss critical engineering elements the upcoming exercise.
Resolute Castle is a part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, and is led by U.S. Army Europe. The exercise is scheduled to take place in summer 2016.
Other conference attendees included representatives from the 230th Engineer and the 117th Military Police battalions, Tennessee Army National Guard; 877th Engineer and 231st Military Police battalions, Alabama Army National Guard; the 841st Engineer Battalion, U.S. Army Reserves; 223rd Engineer Battalion, Mississippi Army National Guard; 4th Infantry Division; and U.S. Army Europe's Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Engineer.
Resolute Castle's primary goal is strengthening partnerships with Bulgaria, Romania, and Estonia in order to promote a peaceful and stable Europe through joint engineering efforts and military police training.
In addition to joint training opportunities, Resolute Castle strengthens these partnerships through training expansion capacity for the U.S. and allied forces, conducting security cooperation activities and development of new site surveys for future projects.
Over the course of the conference, the staff conducted an operations order brief and the planners discussed multiple topics to include work site preparation, construction, logistics, and personnel requirements.
During the mid-planning conference, a clear understanding of the mission at hand was ascertained, friction points identified, and the road ahead established.
With a clear mission and purpose defined, the 194th Engineer Brigade and its subordinate units are set up for success and eager for operations to begin.
