WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Armed Forces celebration to honor America's first president 248th birthday is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 15 on the grounds of George Washington's Mount Vernon Estates & Garden, Mount Vernon, Va.
The U.S. Army Military District of Washington will conduct a Presidential Armed Forces Full Honor Wreath-Laying Ceremony at 10 a.m. at the Tomb of George Washington, to be followed by patriotic music and a military firing demonstration by the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), featuring the U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps and the Commander-in-Chief's Guard. The military firing demonstration is scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m.
The wreath-laying ceremony, patriotic music and military firing demonstration are free and open to the general public. Tickets are not required to attend these events. Space is limited to standing room only. Attendees are encouraged to be at George Washington's Tomb by 9:30 a.m.
