WIESBADEN, Germany -- Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, commanding general, U.S. Army Europe, and Polish Brig. Gen. Slawomir Wojciechowski, deputy commander, Poland's Armed Forces Operational Command, fielded questions from reporters regarding Exercise Anakonda 16, here, Feb. 5.

Exercise Anakonda 16 is a Polish-led, joint, multinational exercise scheduled to take place in Poland June 7-17. Representatives from most of the 24 NATO and partner nations participating in the exercise gathered at Clay Kaserne, here, to participate in a concept of operations rehearsal. A press conference was held in conjunction with the rehearsal.

Anakonda 16 involves more than 25,000 service members and military staff, and is a premier training event for U.S. Army Europe and partner nations. The exercise will set conditions for success at the NATO biannual summit in July 2016 in Warsaw, Poland. Anakonda 16 validates the requirements set at the NATO Wales Summit held in September 2014 in time for members of the alliance to reconvene at the upcoming Warsaw summit.

Nations participating in Anakonda 16 include Albania, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States.
