WASHINGTON-- Chief of Staff of the Army General Mark A. Milley is ready.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl and General Milley recently received a gold commemorative 50th anniversary Super Bowl football from Vietnam Veterans and NFL Legends Roger Staubach and Rocky Bleier. Combined, Staubach and Bleier participated in nine Super Bowls.

The football will become part of a permanent display in the Pentagon to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. Staubach and Bleier are among 32 NFL players, coaches, and managers who served during the Vietnam War era. Staubach served as a logistician at a Navy Supply Depot in Da Nang before quarterbacking the Dallas Cowboys to championships in the 1970s; Bleier, an Army specialist, was wounded during a rescue mission in Vietnam. He fought back to start on the great Pittsburgh Steelers teams of the 1970s that played the Cowboys in two classic Super Bowls.

Last year Staubach and Bleier visited the Pentagon as part of the 50th anniversary commemoration of the Vietnam War. Watch them give their perspectives on the Vietnam War and football: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBItj2e1Nk4

Today more than 9,000 commemorative partners across the country are holding events to connect with the more than 7 million living Vietnam War era veterans.
