Michael F. McGhee to Lead Office of Energy Initiatives' Renewable Energy Efforts

The Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment, the Honorable Katherine Hammack, announced Mr. Michael McGhee as the new executive director of the U.S. Army Office of Energy Initiatives (OEI).

"It is a great privilege to be selected to lead the OEI team as they continue their tremendous efforts to collaborate with industry and bring energy security and resiliency to Army installations," said McGhee. "The OEI, along with other government and industry partners have achieved significant success in a short amount of time. I am excited to join such a dynamic team to continue to develop innovative solutions to support Soldiers and the Army's mission," he said.

McGhee previously served as the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) of the Air Force for Energy, Environment, Safety and Occupational Health (EESOH) for two years and was the Principal Director for Policy to the DAS-EESOH, in the Pentagon for the past 10 years.

He provided senior policy and program oversight for Air Force installations energy, infrastructure and environmental programs worldwide. McGhee began his Air Force career as a commissioned officer; he later worked in commercial construction in Washington D.C. before rejoining the Air Force as a government civilian.

He is a licensed Professional Engineer.
