DAEGU, SOUTH KOREA-- United States Army Pacific recognized 557th Military Police Company, 94th Military Police Battalion, 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command as the best military policy company in the component command by awarding the Command Sgt. Maj. Farley award at Camp Humphreys, 24 Nov.

The Command Sgt. Maj. Farley award encompasses the total military police mission measured by internal and external training evaluations, civilian education, military education, community volunteering, physical training, weapons qualification.

"557th [Military Police Company] has the best training I've seen in an MP company in my 19 years in the Army," said Sgt. 1st Class William Nichols, 557th Military Police Company Operations Sergeant. "Most of the training is done by young leaders like Specialists and Corporals, sometimes right out of AIT."

557th Military Police Company has 260 Soldiers, about twice the size of a typical Army military police company. The company achieved 100% qualification on their M2 and Mk19 systems, 86% qualification on their crew served weapon systems. The company volunteers for Jacob House, the American Red Cross, Courageous Channel, United States Army Garrison Humphreys Read-to-Students program, and the Good Neighbor Program.

"Last year, our company graduated with 12 associate degrees, seven bachelor's degrees, three master's degrees, one doctorate in philosophy and over 220 college credit hours amongst our Soldiers," said Nichols.

"I think it boils down to our Soldiers and operations. We have some of the best Soldiers and non-commissioned officers I've seen in my 14 years. Hands down, we have the best operations NCO, Sgt. 1st Class Nichols" said Capt. Joshua Fletcher, commander of the 557th Military Police Company.

The 557th Military Police Company's mission is to train and provide military police to perform law and order in Area III during Armistice, on order conduct response force operations in support of USAG Humphreys base defense plan, on order conduct operational area security and detainee operations for 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, on order conduct Non-Combatant Evacuation Operations.

"The award highlights the total Soldier concept. Discipline is high, we have good PT scores, Soldiers doing volunteer work and taking college classes really highlights that total Soldier concept looked at when deciding the Command Sgt. Maj. Farley award," 1st Sgt. David Sweeney, 1st Sergeant for the 557th Military Police Company. "We have zero overweight Soldiers and zero PT failures in a company that's almost a battalion-size element with over 250 Soldiers and KATUSAs (Korean Augmentee to Unites States Army)"

557th Military Police Company won the Command Sgt. Maj. Farley award last year and plans on competing to win in 2016.
