ARLINGTON, Va., Nov. 13, 2015 -- Guard Your Health, a health and wellness campaign for Army National Guard Soldiers and families, is committed to helping Soldiers keep their diets in check. The campaign recently launched its #ClassIRecipes series to promote healthy eating and nutrition among Army National Guard Soldiers and their families.

"Soldiers need to understand that what they eat is directly related to their overall fitness and readiness. Your body won't perform well if you don't give it the nutrients it needs to succeed," says Maj. Dariusz Mydlarz, Army National Guard Chief of Preventive Medicine.

#ClassIRecipes make cooking easy, even for beginners, with step-by-step photos, a list of ingredients, and simple cooking instructions. With the holidays right around the corner, this timely recipe series highlights affordable, nutritious meals that anyone can cook in the comfort of their own home. The recipes are hosted on Guard Your Health's Tumblr page so Soldiers can easily find, share, and use the recipes for their next meal.

The recipes cover four categories: Budget-Friendly Meals, 3-5 Ingredients, 30 Minutes or Less, and Sunday Meal Prep. Budget-Friendly meals include recipes that cost less than $2 per serving; the 3-5 Ingredients category keeps it simple with on-hand ingredients; 30 Minutes or Less options cover quick eats; and Sunday Meal Prep recipes offer meal suggestions for the week ahead.

The #ClassIRecipes series aims to make healthy eating easier for Army National Guard Soldiers and military families. Soldiers and supporters are encouraged to post pictures of their finished dishes to social media using #ClassIRecipes. Anyone can learn more about the recipes on Guard Your Health's Tumblr page and stay connected to Guard Your Health on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
