PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. (Nov. 10, 2015) -- The Picatinny Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association held its 35th annual Firepower Awards Luncheon at the Skylands in Randolph Nov. 5, presenting 11 awards that included eight persons who work at Picatinny Arsenal.
Among those recognized were Wayland "Rick" Barber, supervisory mechanical engineer for the Large Caliber Armament Design Division at Benet Labs, Peter Burke, deputy project manager for Combat Ammunition Systems, Joseph Carson, team lead PGK Production Integrated Product and Marie Felix, chief of the Warheads Division at the Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center.
Other recipients were John Finno, director of the Quality Engineering and System Assurance Directorate, Arthur Fiorellini, division chief for the Remote Weapons System Division, Myron Hohil, division chief for the Acoustics and Networked Sensors Division and William Sanville, deputy project manager for Maneuver Ammunition System.
"I want to take this opportunity to thank the NDIA. I am truly honored and humbled," said Felix.
"It is an amazing honor to receive this recognition from the NDIA," said Finno. "I look forward to continuing work with this community of government and industry partners, in support of the warfighters," he said.
"It is with extreme pleasure that I accept this award on behalf of the entire team, both the Soldiers Weapons leadership for their confidence and trust and for the CROWS team for their unwavering dedication and commitment to our mission," said Fiorellini. "We could not have been as successful as we have been without everyone's contribution."
Sanville thanked "PEO leadership, both current and past for creating a culture allowing people to succeed, and importantly all teammates at MAS, ARDEC and contractor partners, and even though these awards are accepted by an individual, they are really a team sport."
"It was truly a great honor to be recognized in front of such a prestigious audience," Carson said. "I'm proud to be part of the NDIA Picatinny chapter community."
Three other individuals from the private sector also received awards from the Picatinny chapter.
Those private-sector recipients include David Dunavin, director and general manager of the Precision Systems Garland in Texas and Ohio, Michael Wehr, chief production engineer for the Precision Guidance Kit Fuze Program, and Michael Wilson, vice president of General Dynamics and president of the Ordnance and Tactical Systems business unit.
The firepower awards are presented annually to persons employed by either government or industry whose contributions to the armaments community have distinguished their service to the national defense.
