GAIZIUNAI, Lithuania -- The 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, received more than 70 vehicles, to include over a dozen Bradley fighting vehicles Oct. 28, 2015 at Gaiziunai, Lithuania, during a rail operation.

The receiving of this equipment now makes the 3rd Bn., 69th Ar. Regt. fully mission capable as it begins its second rotation in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. The 1st ABCT took over as U.S. Army Europe's regionally allocated force from the 173rd Airborne Brigade on Oct. 26.

Soldiers of the 3rd Bn., 69th Ar. Regt. expressed the importance of training alongside their NATO counterparts.

"Our primary purpose is to maximize training with our allies here at Atlantic Resolve," said Maj. Dan Hodermarsky, the operations officer in charge for the 3rd Bn., 69th Ar. Regt. "We want to ensure our allies that we're committed to the alliance here in the Baltics, as well to increase inoperability."

Hodermarsky said that inoperability will come from working with allied forces at the platoon level, where the unit plans to integrate allied squads into U.S. platoons and vice-versa as they go through maneuvers and live-fire iterations.

The 3rd Bn., 69th Ar. Regt.'s participation in the upcoming exercise Iron Sword, will "give the battalion the ability to train at a National Training Center type exercise" Hodermarsky continued.
