RADFORD ARMY AMMUNITION PLANT, Va. - There was a buzz of excitement around the helipad of the Radford Army Ammunition Plant on October 21, as staff welcomed some distinguished visitors to showcase Team Radford.

Hon. Debra S. Wada, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA) and Hon. Robert M. Speer, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Management and Comptroller (FM&C), visited the Acid Area Nitration Center during a trip to highlight an example of the Army's Organic Industrial Base.

Mark R. Lewis, Deputy Chief Management Officer (DCMO), Office of the Under Secretary of the Army, James Dwyer, Principal Deputy for the G-3/4, US Army Materiel Command and Scott Welker, deputy to the commander, U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command, were also in attendance to gain valuable insight on Radford's support to national interests by developing robust partnerships in the region.

Their visit with the workforce underscored the critical nature of the capabilities of Team Radford and was well received by all parties involved. Senior Leadership from across the installation, including Lt. Col. Alicia M. Masson, Commanding Officer, Radford Army Ammunition Plant, William Barnett, General Manager, BAE Systems, and other senior leaders of the Army and operating contractor outlined the modernization mission and production capabilities during the site visit.

"The purpose today was to describe the strategic importance of the organic industrial base here at Radford and the huge efforts the Modernization Team is actively pursuing to increase capabilities and capacity, while decreasing environmental impact here in the New River Valley," shared Mr. Rob Davie, Army Staff Chief of Operations and Senior Engineer.
