WIESBADEN, Germany -- As a part of U.S. Army Europe's Public Diplomacy Outreach program, the headquarters successfully hosted a visit by Darmstadt city council officials, here, Oct. 17.

The city council officials visited the airfield and got a windshield tour of Clay Kaserne, in addition to visiting the Mission Command Center, its history exhibits and the operations room floor.

This was followed by a Europe Strong briefing given by German Brig. Gen. Markus Laubenthal, chief of staff, and Col. Bill Williams, deputy chief of staff. The visit wound to a close with a small social.

The highlight of the visit was undoubtedly the question and answer session following the Strong Europe briefing. Aside from the standard USAREUR themes and message: USAREUR's continuing support for Operation Atlantic Resolve, the NATO alliance and European security threats.

The discussions focused on the leading role Germany is playing in the European Union and in the ongoing refugee crisis.

USAREUR is engaging in Public Diplomacy Outreach events in order to increase transparency and public awareness for its mission, goals and objectives in support of overall European security.
