ANSBACH, Germany (Oct. 15, 2015) -- In observance of Hispanic Heritage Month, Ansbach community members gathered inside the Katterbach Fitness Center to celebrate the culture, history and contributions of Hispanics in the military.

Guest speaker for the event was Yanna Rodriguez, USAG Ansbach's director of resource management. "Hispanic Americans have been, and continue to be, a critical part of the diverse social fabric that allows our Army to recruit and enlist the best of America's sons and daughters," Rodriguez said. "There is a certain ambition to provide for the community and family that we see in the history of Hispanic immigration to this country. That exceptional sense of duty fits so well with the values we hold. In fact, this cultural drive to provide for loved ones has often attracted Hispanic immigrants to military service."

Hispanic community members performed traditional dances and songs from their respective countries of origin and provided food specialties for all attendees to sample.
