Sponsorship program offered at Fort McCoy

FORT MCCOY, Wis.Aca,!"Sponsorship program training sessions have been set for the next few months for members of the Fort McCoy community.

The one-hour sessions will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Feb. 17, May 19, Aug. 18 and Nov. 17 at the Army Community Service (ACS) Center at 2111 South 8th Ave.

Sponsorship is a commander's program that assists Soldiers, civilian employees and families during the permanent change of station or reassignment process.

Ann Wermer, ACS Relocation Readiness program manager, said the sponsorship program also provides assistance to families geographically separated from their deployed sponsors to help them fulfill duty requirements through rear detachment sponsorship.

Kevin Herman, ACS Deployment Readiness program manager, will conduct quarterly Rear Detachment Commander Training in March, June, and September.

The sponsorship program also helps improve unit or organization cohesion and readiness.

The topics covered during the training sessions include: regulations and forms, program entitlements, types of sponsorship, sponsor responsibilities and command responsibilities.

Units also may schedule a unit training session by completing the training request form at the ACS Schoolhouse, which is located at the Web site http://www.mccoymwr.com/ACS/Training.htm, six weeks prior to the training.
