HAMBURG, Germany -- U.S. Army Europe's Commanding General, Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges introduced the concept of Strong Europe, here, Oct. 9 and 10.

The visit included briefings and discussions at the weekly newspaper DIE ZEIT and a speaking engagement at the Haus Rissen institute for international politics and economics. Hodges and U.S. Army Europe's Chief of Staff, Brig. Gen. Markus Laubenthal also met with Consul General Nancy Corbett and they accepted the invitation for an office call with the Hamburg Mayor, Olaf Scholz.

At German General Staff College the commander of the Academy, Maj. Gen. Achim Lidsba, faculty members and students of the General and Admiral Staff Officer Course attended the Strong Europe briefing and participated in the discussions.

The Hamburg visit was concluded at the Helmut Schmidt University of the German Armed Forces where Hodges discussed Strong Europe with German and international students.
