WIESBADEN, Germany -- Spc. Jared Tansley, an infantry Soldier with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment was named the Army's Best Warrior after a grueling competition, Oct. 12.

Tansley is originally from Dekalb, Illinois, and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2013 because he wanted a hard challenge in his life.

He hopes to attend and complete Ranger School and eventually pass special forces selection.

Described as the "Super Bowl" of Army competitions, 26 of the Army's finest warriors, representing 13 commands from across the Army, competed in the 2015 Best Warrior Competition at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia, Oct. 4-12.

During the four-day competition, the elite competitors tested their Army aptitude by conquering urban warfare simulations, board interviews, physical fitness tests, written exams, and warrior tasks and battle drills relevant to today's operating environment.

Sgt. 1st Class Elijah Howlett, 173rd Airborne Brigade, who also competed in the Best Warrior competition, too home third place in the Noncommissioned Officer category. Both Soldiers were recognized for their achievements at the Association of the U.S. Army conference, going on now in Washington, D.C.
