SEMBACH, Germany -- Covering a host of topics, from personality types and personal interactions, to leadership styles and attributes of authentic leaders, United States Army NATO Brigade Soldiers hosted their third Leaders' Offsite Meeting centered on leader development through the True Growth Leadership Seminar.

The True Growth Academy's stated goal is to provide a structured development of both the principles and applications of authentic leadership.

Junior leaders within the organization were given the opportunity to participate in the professional leadership program, which is led by retired Lt. Gen. Lawson McGruder, a former deputy commanding general of U.S. Army Forces Command, and is generally offered to more senior Army officer and enlisted leaders during battalion and brigade pre-command courses.

"We're very proud to be able to offer this to our leaders, earlier, because the skills and insights the program provides will truly help them throughout their careers," said Col. Karolyn Hooper, the USANATO Brigade Commander.

At the conclusion of the seminar, participants were left with a personal and 360 degree assessment of their personality and leadership traits based on a thorough, multifaceted questionnaire which included inputs from supervisors, peers, subordinates, friends and family members. The program also included tools and techniques to help attendees build and maintain positive leadership characteristics.

"At the end of the day, we did the hard work to make this happen for our leaders because it supports their growth and it helps our Army," said Capt. Reginald Stewart, a USANATO Brigade Operations Officer and lead planner of the event.

While specifically designed around the True Growth Seminar, the Leaders' Offsite also included a current operations update and Strong Europe brief by USAREUR commanding general Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges and members of the USAREUR staff.
