Retirees and Family members swarmed Fort Campbell's Soldier Support Center to take part in Fort Campbell's annual Retiree Appreciation Day Sept. 19. Blanchfield Army Community Hospital staff were present to provide eligible Retirees and their Family members with medical screenings, influenza, pneumococcal, shingles and Tdap vaccines, as well as update records and answer questions.

"This is just an event that we do every year to show some appreciation to Retirees," said Sgt. 1st Class Corey Keeling, Blanchfield Army Community Hospital noncommissioned officer in charge of the health fair.

"We offered various immunization but primarily the flu shot. It gives us an opportunity to update their information in our systems and allow them to talk to services offered within Blanchfield."

Clarksville, Tenn. local retiree Tim Terry said, "I think it's a great program they setup for us. I want to thank everyone who has had a part in it and the service you've given us. A lot of people volunteered to help us out and I want to say, thank you to them and thank you to Fort Campbell."

In addition to retiree's gaining vital health education, a total of 341 immunizations were provided to the population with 295 influenza vaccines given, protecting them and others this upcoming flu season.
