Gen. Dennis L. Via, commanding general of U.S. Army Materiel Command, started a multi-day visit to various sites throughout Europe Sept. 14 with a visit to the 21st Theater Sustainment Command.

Via's visit will include installations and organizations throughout Europe in an effort to gain a better understanding of how AMC, the Army's premier provider of materiel readiness, can most effectively support operations in Europe.

Accompanying Gen. Via was his wife Linda Via who met with community leaders and community service roganizations to get an understanding of how the military communities in Europe meet the needs of service member's families.
