Fort Hood Soldiers from the 289th Quartermaster Company, 553rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division Sustainment Brigade, 1st Cav. Div. provided military vehicles for children here during the Touch-N-Truck event Aug 28.

The Gober Party House holds the Touch-N-Truck event annually for children in the community to explore military vehicles and interact with the Soldiers who operate them.

Its mission is incorporating learning and fun in young children by allowing both parents and kids a glimpse of what service members see every day.

For Belinda Garcia, a Temple, Texas native, this is her third time participating in the event.

"The Touch-N-Truck event allows the kids to have a hands-on experience and learn about everything our community has to offer," said Garcia. "I think it's very important for our children to have a strong connection with our community's helpers and leaders."

Soldiers also had the opportunity to share their passion for their military occupational specialties and the types of vehicle they service.

"I would love to do this next year," said Sgt. David Anderson, a Brazil, Indiana native with the 289th Quartermaster Co. "I think this can help give a good face to the service members and allow kids to see a good side of the Army."
