WEST POINT, N.Y. (September 8, 2015) -- For the first time in her career, yearling Jaden Pickell of the Army West Point volleyball team has been named the Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week, Sept. 8.
The Huntington Beach, Calif., native was voted the Most Valuable Player this past weekend at the Black Knights Invitational. She accumulated 43 kills on 70 attempts for a .386 hitting percentage in 11 sets.
In the five-set comeback win over William & Mary, Pickell had a career-high tally in kills with 19, and in the victory in Cornell the yearling recorded a career-high in digs with 16.
Army went 3-0 to win the tournament after defeating Iona, 3-0, William & Mary, 3-2, and Cornell, 3-0.
The Black Knights host Hudson Valley rival Marist on Sept. 9, at 5 p.m. in Christl Arena before traveling to Washington, D.C., for the Service Academy Classic held at the Pentagon and Fort Myer.
